This page has support materials I made for workshops I did for my own students as well as student interns at JALT 2016, FAB 10 in Macau, FAB 9 in Cebu and the FAB8 conference in Kyoto. Communicative English classes tend to be brain friendly. Many other university class-- not so much. The sessions are essentially about student autonomy -- how to take the input and reframe it in ways that help you learn.
Click HERE for the on-line version (a PowerPoint download) of the handout.
Marc's powerpoint for the session is HERE./uploads/1/1/2/5/11251138/ss_diy_guide_edit.pptx I think the powerpoint will only make sense if you have read the handout.
HERE_ is the printable version of the handout for a session on ways to "reframe" information during "lecture" classes where all the teacher does is talk.

HERE is the printable version of the mind map for students to take notes during the session,
HERE is a video of me doing this session with some of my students.

My friend Samantha Kawakami made simplified versions of some of these handouts. You can get copies HERE. Thanks, Sam!
