Misc. Fluency tasks
A few tasksheets and activities that work mainly on fluency.
Addicted to shoes This is based on something I saw on CNNcom. I teach at a women's university so thought it would be a hit with my students. Everyone has a "shoe story" of some kind. Talking to other teachers, it seems like most males do, too.
My life - in 6 words asks students to write six-word memoirs. It is almost like haiku in the sense that the structure/rules make it easier than an open ended task. It was inspired by the book Not quite what I was planning by Larry Smith and Rachel Fiershleiser. Six-word memoirs are featured at Smithmag.net
This is the "fluency frame" 4-3-2 (also known as "Fluency workshop" and "Carousel") in a "ELT/Positive psychology" exercise called I felt wonderful. This is actually from my "ELT and the Science of Happiness" website.
I describe several other "fluency frames" in "One more time, with feeling -- Bringing Task Recycling to the classroom." article from KoreaTESOL's "The English Connection"
Also see 18 + 32 Speaking Activities with Principles on the "Speaking tasks" page.

Talk to yourself in English.
Most of my students come to school by bus or by train. I encourage them to use the time to "talk to themselves in English." Often they look out the window. They imagine what they could be saying. HERE is a handout that gives them ideas of ways to practice mentally.
